How to Become a Referee

Are you interested in becoming a referee?

Being a referee can be a very rewarding experience. The first step is to get certified.

Entry Level (Grade 9) Official (minimum age 11 years old)

Entry level classes are typically offered during the months of February and March, and also July and August.

Bridge (Grade 8) Official (minimum age 14 years old)

Once you have completed at least one season as a grade 9 referee, you are eligible to upgrade to a grade 8. Grade 8 classes are typically offered in February and March, and also July and August.

Recertification

Every year an official will have to take another class. If you are not upgrading from a 9 to an 8 you MUST recertify to continue to referee games for the next calendar year. Recertification classes are generally done from November to January of the following year.
